Buy the ebook (PDF with hyperlinks) Description: This is the first English translation of the collection of papers: Marian von Smoluchowski, Abhandlungen über die Brownsche Bewegung und verwandte Erscheinungen (Akademicshe verlagsgesellschaft M.B.H., Leipzig 1923). Smoluchowski's papers are development of Einstein's 1905 paper on Brownian motion including the development of the Einstein-Smoluchowski equation. Smoluchowski's contributions to physics are perhaps best described by Arnold Sommerfeld (Phys. Zeits. 1917): "Those who have followed his brilliant scientific accomplishments, saw him as the logical heir to Boltzmann's view of the description of Nature. His name will, forever, be associated with the first flowering of atomic theory." This valuable book should be of interest to experts, students and all interested in the origin and the development of the theory of Brownian motion.
